Baseball Claims Series Finale at Olivet Nazarene

The Culver-Stockton baseball team rebounded from a pair of extra inning losses Friday to claim an 8-5 victory in the final game of a three-game series with Olivet Nazarene University Saturday afternoon in Bradley, Ill.

Starting pitcher Isaiah Naylor set the tone by shutting down the Tiger offense over six innings, allowing just three runs on seven hits. Naylor walked three and struck out seven to earn his second victory of the season.

Carter Jones relieved Naylor and hurled final three innings, allowing two runs in the ninth. Jones scattered three hits while walking three and striking out four to earn the three inning save.

Offensively, the Wildcats collected 10 hits, were issued five walks and helped by three Tigers errors.

Kannon Kirk and General Schofield each garnered two hits, including a double, and two runs batted in each. Cooper Gillette also had two hits and added a RBI.

The Wildcats are scheduled to to play next Saturday, March 7, at Park University in a non-conference doubleheader in Parkville, Mo. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m. at Comfort Field.
