Baseball Suffers Two Walk-Off Losses at Park
The Culver-Stockton baseball team suffered two walk-off losses in non-conference games against Park University Saturday afternoon at Homefield Athletic Complex in Kansas City, Kan.
The Wildcats trailed 7-2 in the first game only to rally for five runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. However, the Pirates hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the inning to win the game 9-7.
In the second game, C-SC again used some late game magic to rally from a 4-0 deficit with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to force extra innings. After neither team scored in the eighth, Park scratched across a run in the ninth to earn the sweep.
Four players collected two hits each to lead the C-SC offense in game two. Cooper Kiel led that group with two hits, including a home run, and two runs batted in. Kannon Kirk and Cooper Gillette added two hits and a RBI each. Jack Linenfelser also had two hits and a runs scored.
In game one, Ethan Weber hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to tie the game. Weber finished with two hits and two runs batted in. Brandon Diaz Valentin and General Schofield joined Weber with two hits and two RBI. Gillette also added two hits in the opener.
The Wildcats (4-10) conclude their weekend trip Sunday with another non-conference doubleheader at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The first game is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
