Cheer Team Places Fifth at Nationals
The Culver-Stockton College cheerleading team placed fifth overall during its first trip to the NAIA National Cheerleading Championships in Daytona, Fla., this week.
The Wildcats, who performed in the small-coed category, scored 7.3 points during the preliminary round of the championships that are being held in conjunction with the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) Finals in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Lindenwood won the preliminary round with 9.7 points, followed by Oklahoma City University (9.4), St. Ambrose (8.7) and Midland (8.3).
William Penn University totaled 6.2 points. The Wildcats moved on to the Challenge Cup, along with Midland and William Penn, for a chance to win their way back into the finals on Friday afternoon; however, William Penn scored higher in that competition and moved back into the finals and dashing the Wildcats' hopes.
