Wildcat Cheer Beats Columbia in Duel; Place Third in Cougar Classic
The Culver-Stockton College competitive cheer team finished third in the Cougar Classic at Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., Thursday afternoon. Later in the day, the Wildcats defeated Columbia College in a duel meet following the classic event.
The Wildcats opened the day in the Cougar Classic against the University of St. Mary (Kan.) and Columbia College in the Arena at Southwell Complex on the Columbia College campus.
C-SC registered a raw score of 111.30 from the two judges, or an average of 55.65. The Wildcats had 4.50 worth of deductions for a grand total of 51.15. St. Mary won the competition with a score of 88.55 while Columbia was second with a score of 57.50.
In the duel with Columbia, the Wildcats performed much better than earlier in the afternoon and received a raw score of 128.20, or an average of 64.1. They had a on point deduction for a final score of 63.1. Meanwhile, Columbia garnered a raw score of 119.1 for its routine for an average of 59.6. They also had a one point deduction and finished with a final score of 58.60 to give C-SC the victory.
The Wildcats will next be in action on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2 in a pair of competitions in Kansas. On March 1, C-SC is scheduled to compete in the Baker University Classic in Baldwin City, Kan., before competing in the Benedictine Challenge at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. on Sunday, March 2.
