Cheer Begins Competitive Season at Viking Challenge
The Culver-Stockton College cheerleading team put up the biggest scores in recent program history as it competed at the Grand View Viking Challenge Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Wildcats finished sixth out of seven squads in the first round of competition with a score of 72.3 points, which is believed to be the highest score since cheer was re-instated in 2024. St. Ambrose won the opening battle with 94.25 points.
In their second routine Sunday, the Wildcats registered a slightly lower score of 71.85 to once again finish sixth out of seven teams. St. Ambrose was also the Round 2 champion with 96.6 points.
The C-SC cheer team is scheduled to compete twice this weekend beginning Friday, Feb. 20, at the Arch City Classic hosted by Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in St. Louis, Mo. For round one, the Wildcats are slated to compete at 12:10 p.m. and then turn around to compete again in round two at 2:20 p.m.
On Saturday, Feb. 21, C-SC is set to compete at the Cougar Classic at Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.. The Wildcats are slated to perform at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
