Wildcats Commit Costly Turnovers in Loss to No. 17 Baker University
Culver-Stockton College turned the ball over six times in a 61-7 loss to 17th-ranked Baker University Saturday afternoon at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City, Kan.
Baker intercepted five Wildcat passes, returning three for touchdowns, and also recovered a fumble leading to 31 points for the hosts. The Wildcats have had six interceptions returned for touchdowns this season.
C-SC's only touchdown was also set up by an interception by Jasper Ladue. That was one of two interceptions for the Wildcats and it led to the Wildcats' only score on a one-yard touchdown run by Kyle Dixon in the third quarter. Tyheim Merriel had the other interception for C-SC, his second of the season.
Offensively, C-SC totaled 267 yards, including 106 yards rushing. It is the third straight week the Wildcats have rushed for over 100 yards. Demarion Cobb, who had a career high 109 yards rushing last week at Missouri Baptist, led the Wildcat ground attack with 47 yards on 14 carries.
Quarterbacks Drake Day and Carson Vandello were a combined 13 of 29 for 161 yards. Dixon had five receptions for 79 yards to lead the receivers.
C-SC (0-4) is scheduled to return home next Saturday, Sept. 28, to play third-ranked Grand View University at Ellison Poulton Stadium. The Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division opener is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
