Dixon, Thomas Earn Weekly Honors for Play against Central Methodist
Culver-Stockton College wide receiver Kyle Dixon and linebacker Kaden Thomas have been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Football Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their play during the Wildcats' 60-43 victory over Central Methodist University last Saturday.
Dixon, a senior from Carlinville, Ill. (Carlinville HS / Southern Illinois-Edwardsville), had another big day receiving the football. Dixon caught 11 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns in the game. His touchdowns covered nine, 30 and 68 yards. The 236 yards receiving is the second-most in a game in program history.
For the year, Dixon leads the Heart with 68 receptions, which is 18 more receptions more than the next closest receiver, for 1,085 yards and 11 touchdowns. He is averaging 7.6 receptions and 120.6 yards per game through nine games this season. Dixon is the first player in program history to top the 1,000-yard receiving mark twice, having totaled 1,112 receiving yards in 2024.
Thomas, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla. (Union HS), recorded a team-high eight tackles (4 solo), two sacks, two tackles for loss and intercepted an Eagle pass which he returned 58 yards of a touchdown. In addition, Thomas, who was named the Heart's Freshman of the Year last season, forced a fumble on his second sack of the game and teammate Azaan Tabari scooped it up and returned it 54 yards for another score.
For the year, Thomas has garnered a team-best 54 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks. He also has two interceptions and two forced fumbles in nine games this season.
The Wildcats (5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Heart North) are scheduled to play at top-ranked and defending national champion Grand View University this Saturday, Nov. 8, in Des Moines, Iowa. Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
