Wildcats Held Down by No. 1 Grand View
The Culver-Stockton College football team was limited to a season-low 176 total yards in a 62-7 loss to No. 1 ranked Grand View University Saturday afternoon at Duke Williams Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Wildcats rushed for 72 yards and had a season worst 104 yards passing while also committing three turnovers in the game.
Quarterback Liam Thornton ended the day with 100 yards passing on 13 of 26 passing and two interceptions. Thornton was also the top rusher for the Wildcats, accumulating 41 yards on 17 carries.
C-SC's only touchdown of the game came early in the second quarter when Nicholas Jarrett scored from a yard out, culminating a 12-play, 75-yard drive, to make the score 14-7. Jarrett finished with just 12 yards on eight carries.
Grand View kept C-SC receiver Kyle Dixon under his average on the day. Dixon, who was averaging 121 yards per game receiving, led the Wildcats with six receptions for 39 yards.
The Wildcats, now 5-5 overall, are slated to end the 2025 season next Saturday, Nov. 15, with a home game against Peru State College. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Ellison Poulton Stadium. C-SC will recognize 22 players and three cheerleaders before the game during Senior Day ceremonies.
