Seven Football Players Named to All-Heart North Team
Seven members of the Culver-Stockton College football team have earned spots on the 2025 Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division all-conference team that was released by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildcats boasted one first team selection, three second team selections, and three honorable mentions sections
Named to the first team was wide receiver Kyle Dixon while offensive lineman Ryan Yabi, and linebackers Kaden Thomas and Sonny Jenkins were second team selections. Quarterback Liam Thornton, offensive lineman Collin Howe, and defensive lineman Maxwell Hays were honorable mention selections.
Dixon, a senior from Carlinville, Ill. (Carlinville HS / Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville), was named to the first team for the second consecutive season after he led the Heart with 83 receptions for 1,282 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. The 83 receptions were the fourth highest in school history, and 1,282 receiving yards were third most in school history for a single season. The 83 receptions were 31 more than the next wide receiver in the conference.
In addition, Dixon is the first wide receiver in school history to register two 1,000-yard receiving seasons. His 143 career receptions are sixth on the school's all-time list, while his 2,394 career receiving yards are second and his 24 receiving touchdowns are third on the all-time list. Dixon managed to compile these numbers in just two seasons with the Wildcats after transferring from SIU-Edwardsville.
Yabi, a red-shirt junior from Carol Stream, Ill. (Glenbard North HS), is a three-year starter on the offensive line. He was named to the second team while playing left tackle for the Wildcats this season after being an honorable mention selection as a center in 2024.
Thomas, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla. (Union HS), recorded a team-high 57 total tackles for the Wildcats this season. Thomas, who was a second team selection and freshman of the year in 2024, also registered three sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, forced two fumbles and intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Jenkins, a senior from Sarasota, Fla. (Manatee HS), had 56 tackles, a team-best 12.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception. He was an honorable mention selection as a defensive back in 2024.
Thornton, a junior from Mesquite, Texas (North Mesquite HS / Emporia State University), earned honorable mention honors after passing for 2,877 yards, which were the most in the Heart and the third-most in a single season in school history. He was first in the Heart in completions (217), second in attempts (384) and sixth in touchdowns (22). Thornton also led the Wildcats in rushing, garnering 353 yards on 108 carries and scoring four touchdowns.
Hays, a senior from Monroe City, Mo. (Monroe City HS), recorded 27 total tackles from his nose guard position. He added three tackles for loss and one sack during the season.
Howe, a junior guard from Fate, Texas (Royce City HS), is a two-year starter who helped the Wildcat offense average just a smidge under 400 yards per game, finishing at 399.7 yards per game this season.
The Wildcats finished the 2025 season with a 5-6 overall record and fifth in the seven-team North Division with a 2-4 division mark.
