Slow Start to Second Half Leads to Road Loss at Mount Mercy
The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team shot 31 percent from the field in falling to Mount Mercy University 78-60 in Heart of America Athletic Conference action at the Hennessey Recreation Center Wednesday night in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Wildcats trailed 37-30 at the intermission but was outscored 17-2 over the first eight minutes of the second second half as the Mustangs pulled away for the easy victory.
The Wildcats wasted a career night from Makieth Deng who tallied a season-high 16 points to lead the C-SC offensive attack off the bench. Damar Jenkins and Kamren Wires contributed 11 points each.
C-SC is off until next Wednesday, Feb. 4, when they travel too Atchison, Kan., to face Benedictine College in conference action. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. The Ravens defeated the Wildcats 82-72 on Nov. 22 in Canton.
