Men's Golf Places Fourth in Heart Preview
The Culver-Stockton College men's golf team competed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preview Tournament and finished fourth out of a 10-team field at the Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.
The Wildcats completed the 36-hole event with a two-round score of 597 (295-302). The course featured a 6606-yard, par 72 layout in warm, windy conditions. MidAmerica Nazarene won the event with a score of 575 (294-281).
Craig Bland led the Wildcat fivesome with a two-day score of 2-over 146. Bland carded scores of 73 each day and finished tied for sixth in the 55-player field. Cade Coon ended in a tie for 12th place with a score of 4-over 148, shooting scores of 72 and 76 over the two days.
Matt Dunham tied for 15th and Conner Bross tied for 29th place in the event. Dunham cardd a 5-over 149 with scores of 74 and 75, while Bross shot a 10-over 154, reording scores of 75 and 79.
Jacob Thomas was the fifth player for the Wildcats to compete in the event, shooting a 36-hole total of 168 (80-88).
The Wildcats are scheduled to conclude their fall season next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 30-31, at the Mount Mercy Invitational. The tournament is slated to be played at Old Kinderhook Golf Course in Camdenton, Mo.
