Men's Golf Places Third at Wildcat Fall Classic
The Culver-Stockton men's golf team battled gusty, windy conditions to finish third at its own Wildcat Fall Classic at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy, Ill., Sunday and Monday.
The Wildcats carded a team score of 48-over 336 during the first round Sunday on a day only one of the five teams broke 330. Central Methodist shot 299 the first day before coming back to the field with a 310 Monday. The Wildcats improved 12 shots and finished with a 36-over 324 Mondy to finish at 84-over 660.
Individually, Brevin Wilson fired a tournament-low 3-under 69 Monday to jump seven spots and finished tied for fourth overall. Wilson struggled with the wind Sunday and carded a 13-over 85 to finish at 10-over 154 overall.
Jacob Thomas recorded 9-over 81 and a 12-over 84 to end at 21-over 165 and in 8th place. Brady Walker turned in the most consistent play for the Wildcats, carding 11-over 83 both days to place 10th overall with a score of 22-over 166.
Leighton Meeker and Austin Strubbe completed the Wildcat fivesome in the tournament, finishing 19th and 28th overall, respectively. Meeker carded a 31-over 175 while Strubbe recorded a 43-over 187.
C-SC concludes the fall portion of its schedule next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preview in Overland Park, Kan. The event is taking place at the Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate.
