Wildcats and Trojans Play to Draw for Third Straight Season

The Culver-Stockton men's soccer team played Hannibal-LaGrange University to a scoreless draw Tuesday afternoon at Blackwell Field in Hannibal, Mo.

It is the third straight season the Wildcats and Trojans have tied in their only meeting of the. year between the two schools.

After scoring eight goals on 18 shots in an 8-0 victory over Waldorf (Iowa) to open the season, C-SC was limited to just eight total shots and four shots on goal in the tie with the Trojans. Joe Buckman was the only Wildcat to put multiple shots on frame.

Meanwhile, Wildcat goalkeeper Ricardo Fischbach and the rest of the Wildcat defense kept HLGU off the scoreboard for his second straight shutout. Fischbach made five saves in the game. The Trojans outshot C-SC 18-8 in the game, including 16-3 in the second half.

Despite being outshot, C-SC was the aggressor in the contest, finishing with an 8-0 edge in corner kicks and committing 17 fouls to the Trojans' eight.

The Wildcats (1-0-1) are scheduled to return to play this weekend at home against Harris-Stowe State University. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, inside Ellison Poulton Stadium.
