Men's Track and Field Tune Up for Heart Championships at Luther Invitational
The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team tuned up for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next week by competing in the Luther Invitational in Decorah, Iowa, Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats claimed two events, finished second in others and placed third in two more to finish third overall with 110 points. Hamline won the team title with 198 total points.
Judah Rivers won the first individual event in the 300-meter run in a time of 36.55 seconds. Logan Lucas claimed the other event title in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:01.98. Lucas also placed fifth in the mile run in a time of 4:29.03.
The second place finishes came from Jailan Reynaga in the 600-meter run and the 4x400 relay team. Reynaga completed the circuit in 1:29.56 while the 4x400 relay team ran 3:35.16.
In other events, the Wildcats placed three in the top eight in the 60-meter hurdles with Jabez Rivers placing third in a time of 8.92, Drew Mallett finishing fourth in a time of 8.98, and Kenny Tucker placing sixth in a time of 11.53 seconds.
In the field events, Mallett placed in the pole vault, long jump and high jump. Mallet finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, 1 1/2 inches, fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 1 inch, and sixth the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 9 3/4 inches.
Jayden Ferdinand did well in the throws, placing fourth in both the shot put and the weight throw. Ferdinand registered a mark of 37 feet, 2 1/4 inches in the shot put, and a mark of 40 feet, 1 1/4 inch in the weight throw.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in the conference championships next weekend, Feb. 14-15, at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
