Men's Track and Field Place Seventh at Finals Week Invitational
The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team recorded 35 team points to finish seventh among nine teams at the Finals Invitational held at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
Drew Mallett had the best finish of the day with a second place result in the heptathlon with 4,205 points, just six point shy of the winner. Mallet finished first in four of the seven events, taking the top spot in the 60-meter dash (7.30), long jump (21 feet, 8 1/4 inches), high jump (5 feet, 9 1/4 inches) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.12 seconds).
The Wildcats also claimed one third place finish, two fifth place finishes and three sixth place finishes in the individual events.
Cade Packard made his debut in the 600-meter run and set a school record with a time of 1:25.21. That mark was good enough for a sixth place finish. The previous record was set by Jabez Rivers at the 2025 Bumble Rumble with a time of 1:28.12.
Jailan Reynaga set a personal best mark in the 800 run with a time of 2:02.28, which was good for third place overall.
Shivneel Dutt placed fifth in two events during the day. Dutt placed fifth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:57.53 while also placing fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:21.57. Chase Lake also competed in the 1000 and the 5000 events, placing sixth in both event with times of 3:08.25 and 18:27.89, respectively.
Finally, the Wildcats finished eighth overall in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:38.63.
The men's team returns to campus Jan. 10 for the Battle in the Hive at Saint Ambrose. The first events will start at 11 a.m.
