Men's Track Finishes Second at Luther Invitational
The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team placed second at the Luther All-America Invitational Saturday afternoon in Decorah, Iowa.
The Wildcats recorded 124 points to finish behind host Luther College, which had 170 team points.
Drew Mallett led the scoring for the Wildcats with one event victory, one second place finish and three third place finishes.
Mallett won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.10 seconds and placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 0 3/4 inches.Mallet had a season best time in placing third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.91 seconds while he also posted third place finishes in the high jump and the pole vault. In the high jump, Mallett hit a mark 0f 5 feet, 8 inches, and in the pole vault he hit 11 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
In addition, Mallet placed fourth in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, 8 inches. Lucas Sweitich placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 1 inches, while Ayden Hodges placed seventh with a mark of 17 feet, 9 1/2 inches.
In addition to Mallett, Treyvon Louis set a personal best time in the 60-hurdles with a time of 9.38, good for fifth place overall. DiAngelo D'Zangue reached a personal best in the 200 with a time of 25.14 seconds (sixth), while Ty Kiser hit a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 0 3/4 inches, good for fourth overall.
Judah Rivers won an event and placed fourth in another to help the Wildcats' cause Saturday. Rivers won the 300-meter run with a personal best time of 36.25 seconds. He placed fourth in the 60-merter dash with a time of 7.18 seconds.
In the 400, C-SC had four runners finish in the top seven with Eric Lewczyk placing second with time of 53.26 while Ty Kiser was fifth (56.86), Louis was sixth (57.44) and Eli Kiser was seventh (57.45).
In the 60-meter run Cade Packard and Lewczyk placed first and second, respectively, with times of 1:26.09 and 1:26.36.
In the throws, Jayden Ferdinand placed third in the weight throw with a toss of 46 feet11 3/4 inches, while Frentriss Williams III placed seventh in the shop put with a throw of 39 feet, 9 3/4 inches.
C-SC also won the 4x400 relay with season-best time of 3:29.86.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14, in the Darren Young Classic at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa,
