Men's Track Sets Eight Personal Bests at Darren Young Classic

The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team had eight student-athletes set personal bests at the Darren Young Classic, the final tuneup before the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday afternoon at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

The Wildcats managed just two top eight finishes during the meet with Drew Mallett placing third in the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, 9 3/4 inches in the only individual event.

The 4x400 relay team of Judah Rivers, Cade Packard, Eric Lewczyk and Mallett set a season-best time of 3:28.93 in finishing fifth in the event.

Two athletes set personal marks in two different events during the day. Austin Snoderly hit a person best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.41 seconds. Snoderly also hit a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.75 seconds.

Shivneel Dutt also set personal bests in two events, hitting a mark in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.55, and the 3000-meter run with a mark if 10:14.20.

In addition to Snoderly, two other runners set a personal best in the 60 as Andrew Minnix registered a time of 8.18 seconds, and Mason Cygan had a time of 8.71 seconds.

In the 200, Treyvon Louis also hit a personal best time, joining Snoderly with time of 24.18 seconds. In the 3000, Chase Lake joined Dutt with a personal best in the distance, finishing the circuit with a time of 10:38.40.

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, Feb, 20-21, at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
