Men's Track and Field Begin Outdoor Season at CMU Open

The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team opened its outdoor season Saturday the the Central Methodist Open in Fayette, Mo.

Drew Mallett finished in the top eight in three individual events and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team to lead the Wildcats.

Mallett's best finish came in the 110-meter hurdles where he finished fifth overall in a time of 16.48 seconds. Mallet finished eight in both the 100-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles. He ran the 100 in 11.42 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 1:02.56.

Jabez Rivers placed third and fourth in the 110 and 400 hurdles, respectively, and was all a member of the 4x400 relay team. Rivers finished the smashed the school record in the 400 hurdles with a time of 56.34 seconds. He completed the 110 hurdles in 15.73 seconds.

In the field events Kevin Bryant placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 1 inch. Cody Welch placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of five feet, 9 3/4 inches.

The Wildcats are back in action next Saturday, March 23, at the Viking Invitational hosted by Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
