Kowalewicz Earns Wildcats' First Weekly Honor since 2022
Culver-Stockton College middle blocker Zach Kowalewicz has been named the Boxout Sports Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Defender of the Week for his efforts during the week of March 23-29.
Kowalewicz, a 6-foot-3 junior from Chicago, Ill. (Lincoln Way East HS), totaled 11 blocks in three matches (12 sets) during the Wildcats' 2-1 week. He garnered one solo block and 10 block assists while adding three digs.
Offensively, Kowalewicz registered 21 kills in the three matches with a .385 attack percentage. Kowalewicz is the first Wildcat to earn weekly conference honors since Akeel Oxley was named attacker of the week on March 28, 2022.
For the season, Kowalewicz ranks fourth in the Heart with 99 total blocks (1.02 blocks per set). In his career, Kowalewicz ranks third on the school's all-time with 249 total blocks. He also ranks third with 201 block assists.
The Wildcats are scheduled to begin their final road trip of the 2026 season this Friday, April 3, at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapid, Iowa, before playing at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa , on Saturday, April 4. That match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
