Men's Cross Country Hosts Great River Open to Start Season

The Culver-Stockton men's cross country team opened the 2025 season by hosting the Great River Open at River Valley Community Golf Course Friday afternoon in Canton, Mo.

The Wildcats placed third among the three team scores in the event with a score of 68 points with a team time of 1:22.32. Mount Mercy (15) registered a team time of 1:12.24.37 and Missouri Valley (59) with a team time of 1:28.40.20,placed first and second, respectively. Hannibal-LaGrange also participated but did not have enough runners for a team score.

Freshman Shivneel Dutt was the Wildcats' top finisher, placing 16th overall with a time of 16:44.85 in the 5-kilometer event. That time is the third best in school history.

Jailan Reynaga finished 18th overall with a time of 17:07.34 while Blake Thompson and Chase Lake placed 20th and 21st overall with times of 17:41.21 and 18:20.80, respectively. 

Drew Mallett placed 28th overall with a time of 22.27.85 and Russell Amberson placed 30th in a time of 28:45.87.

The Wildcats will be in action again on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they compete in the Les Duke Invitational at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. The men's race is set to begin at 10:45 a.m.
