Men's Cross County Places Ninth at Greenville Classic
The Culver-Stockton College men's cross country team competed in the Greenville University Classic at Hillsboro Country Club and Park District in Hillsboro, Ill., Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats finished ninth in the 13-team field with 232 overall points. NCAA Division II McKendree University (Ill.) won the 8-kilometer event with 62 points.
Individually, Jailan Reynaga improved his time from a week ago at the Trojan Invitational by 49 seconds and finished 44th overall with a time of 30:03.03. Blake Thompson ran a career-best 30:55.95, topping his previous best by 56 seconds. He placed 54th overall.
Shivneel Dutt finished 56th in the field, registering a time of 31:11.75, which was one second faster than last weeks' time at the Trojan Invitational. Chase Lake recorded a time of 33:08.30 and placed 77th overall, while Russell Amberson ran three minutes faster than last week, recording a time of 46:48.45 and placing 92nd overall.
The Wildcats will now prepare for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held Nov. 8, at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The men's race is slated for 11:30 a.m.
