Strong Fourth Quarter Carries Wildcats to First Heart Victory

The Culver-Stockton College women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to earn its first Heart of America Athletic Conference victory with a 66-61 victory over Graceland University Wednesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats, who trailed after each of the first three quarters, including 43-39 heading to the final 10 minutes, poured in 27 fourth quarter points to outscore the visitors 27-18. C-SC improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Heart, while Graceland falls to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Neither team shot the ball well from the field with C-SC connecting on 31 percent of its shots from the field, while Graceland shot 33 percent from the floor. The difference came of the foul line where the Wildcats outscored the Yellowjackets 22-8.

Katie Webb paced the Wildcat attack by netting nine of her team high 16 points in the fourth quarter. Misora Nambara added 14 markers while Avery Oetting contributed 13 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Leilani Harworth came off the bench to grab a career-high 13 rebounds while Webb and Oetting garnered seven rebounds each. Nambara dished out four assists.

C-SC will try to make it two in a row this Saturday, Nov. 23, when it hosts Baker University at Charles Field House. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
