Women's Bowling Claims First Tournament Title; Moore and Lessenger Named to All-Tourney Team

In its first tournament of the new year, the Culver-Stockton women's bowling team claimed its first tournament title of the season on day two of the Cougar Clash at AMF Town and Country Lanes in Columbia, Mo. On Saturday, the Wildcats placed second overall.

The Wildcats recorded 4,197 total pins in five games, averaging 839.4 pins per game, to claim the team title. C-SC finished 178 pins ahead of Avila, which had beaten teh Wildcats Saturday in the Baker competition.

C-SC was led by individual champion Rachel Moore and Jersey Lessenger, who placed fifth overall. For Moore, it was her fourth career individual championship, while Lessenger claimed her first all-tournament team.

Moore averaged 186.4 pins per game, garnering 932 pins overall to earn the title by 28 poins over Avila's Zoe Fox. After a slow start with a 168 first game, Moore rolled games of 180 or more in the final four games, including a high of 209 game in game four.

Lessenger recorded her first top five finish by rolling five games for a total of 867 pins overall, an average of 173.4. Jasmine Saunders tied for sixth overall with 829 pins overall. She averaged 165.8 pins per game. Andi Woods added a top 20 finish for C-SC, placing 16th overall with an average of 150.4 pins per game.

Earlier in the weekend, the Wildcats totaled 4,496 pins in 25 baker games Saturday to place second overall on the opening day of the Cougar Clash. C-SC finished behind Avila, which had 4,537 pins.

The Wildcats topped the 200 point mark in five of the 25 games bowled during the day, including a match high 225 in the final game of the tournament.

C-SC is scheduled to return to action Feb. 1-2 at the NAIA West Open at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan.
