Women's Golf Begins 2023-24 Season at Battle of Waterloo
Emily Grodjesk recorded a career-best two round total score in leading the Culver-Stockton women's golf team during its first tournament of the year at the Battle of Waterloo played at Irv Warren Golf Course and Gates Park Golf Course Frida and Saturday, Sept. 15-16.
Playing at Irv Warren Friday, Grodjesk carded an 18-hole total of 84 before finishing the tournament Saturday at Gates Park where she garnered an 82 for a 36-hole total of 166, good for sixth place overall.
As a team, the Wildcats shot a team total of 376 the first day before bettering that mark by five strokes with a 371 on day two to finish at 747 overall.
Hannah Matrisch shot 97 and 90 for an overall total of 187 while Natalie Ames carded a 92 and 105 for 197. Allie Hayden recorded a 103 and 94 to match Ames' total, and Kyndall Crim carded a 238 with a score of 105 and 133.
Also participating in the tournament were Gabby Beffa, who carded a 36-hole total 199 (101-98) while Sara Gruenewald shot 215 (109-106) and Addison Wetzel had a 219 (109-110).
The golfers return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, at the Missouri Valley College Fall Invitational in Marshall, Mo. The tournament is being contested at Indian Foothills Golf Course.
