Quarles Nets 100th Career Goal; Wildcats Fall to No. 8 Spartans

Kaelin Quarles eclipsed a milestone during the Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse's 22-5 loss to eighth-ranked Missouri Baptist University Thursday afternoon at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

Quarles, the school's all-time leader in goals, notched her 100th career goal with six minutes, 31 seconds remaining in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a rare highlight. Quarles added a second goal to finish with two goals and one assist in the game.

Addison Holm registered three goals on three shots on goal to lead the offense. Rylie Boyce added an assist for to account for the scoring. 

The Spartans started fast, leading 6-1 after first period. Missouri Baptist then pitched a shutout in the second quarter while scoring eight goals of its own to led 14-1 at the intermission.

The Spartans controlled 21 of the 31 draws in the game. Quarles led the Wildcats with seven draw controls. Missouri Baptist also outshot the Wildcats 42-11 and had 16 ground balls to the Wildcats' nine. 

C-SC didn't have issues on clears, successfully clearing the ball from their own end nine times on nine attempts. The Wildcats were also 1-for-2 on free position shots.

C-SC, now 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the Heart, are slated to play at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., this Sunday, April 6. Game time is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
