Wildcats Blanked by No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene in League Opener
The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team dropped its Heart of America Athletic Conference opening match 5-0 to No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene University Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field in Olathe, Kan.
The Wildcats were outshot 27-5 overall, including 16-4 in the first half when the Pioneers built a 2-0 lead. The first half deficit could have been much worse if not for the play of C-SC goalkeeper Mackenzie Frizzell who made 10 of her 12 saves in the first 45 minutes.
Of the five shots recorded by the Wildcats, three were on goal with Savannah Stauffer registering all three shots on frame. In fact, Stauffer had four of the five shots overall with Megan Dierks Machado garnering the other shot.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 5-2-0 overall and 0-1 in league play with a match against Missouri Valley scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 20, at home. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.
