Moore's PK Helps Wildcats Clip Vikings

Rian Moore scored on a penalty kick in the first half and that is all the Culver-Stockton women's soccer team would need to earn its second Heart of America Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 1-0 decision over Grand View University Saturday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Wildcats earned a corner kick in the 22nd minute and when the kick was sent to the middle of the Viking penalty area, senior McKenna Little was taken down resulting in the penalty.

Moore stepped up and buried the penalty for her third goal in as many games. The freshman from Quincy, Ill., now has nine points on the season.

The Wildcats dominated play, out-shooting the hosts 12-3 in the game. Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Frizzell and the Wildcat defense faced just one shot on goal and Frizzell was equal to the task. Frizzell registered her fifth shutout of the season and the 20th shutout of her career.

The Wildcats, now 8-6-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the Heart, are back in action this Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they host William Penn University at Ellison Poulton Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled fro 5 p.m.
