Moore, Chandler-Gutierrez Register Four Points Each in Victory over Graceland

Rian Moore scored to goals while Lexi Clark and Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez each notched a goal and added an assist to help the Culver-Stockton women's soccer team post a 4-3 victory over Graceland University Wednesday night at Poulton Stadium.

The Wildcats struck first in the 11th minute when Chandler-Gutierrez used her speed to get around her defender and sprinted up the left side before finding Clark all alone near the six-yard line. Clark settled and punched it past the Yellowjacket goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.

Graceland tied the game just before halftime but the Wildcats regained the lead early in the second half when Chandler-Gutierrez was taken down in the penalty area and was awarded a penalty kick just one minute into the  half.

Moore took the penalty kick and blasted her shot low and to the left post for her seventh goal of the season and a 2-1 lead.

C-SC added its third goal in the 66th minute when Chandler-Gutierrez dribbled around several defenders before hitting a rocket that slipped past the Graceland goalkeeper inside the right post. It was Chandler-Gutierrez's 24th career goal, moving her into fifth place on the school's all-time list.

The Yellowjackets rallied for a pair of goals in a span of two minutes, three seconds to tie the game. The second goal came in the 73rd minute of the game.

The score stayed that way until the 87th minute when Chandler-Gutierrez found herself near the corner flag. She sent a pass to Clark who flicked it to Moore. Moore ticked her shot in the upper left corner of the net for the game winner.

The Wildcats were outshot 17-10 in the game but each team registered eight shots on goal. C-SC goalkeeper Sam Link earned the victory by making five saves. Graceland held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

C-SC returns to the Poulton Stadium pitch this Saturday, October 18, to face Benedictine College. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
