Judd Wins Pole Vault, Sharp Sets New Mark in Hammer at CMU Invitational
The Culver-Stockton women's track team participated in the Central Methodist Invitational March 28-29, in Fayette, Mo.
The Wildcats claimed one event title, four second place finishes, one third place finish and one fourth place finish in a talented field.
Kinlie Judd registered the only event victory for the Wildcats, winning the pole vault with a mark of nine feet, 2 1/4 inches.
Donyall Sharp continues to inch closer to the national qualifying standard in the hammer throw. Sharp broke her own school record Friday in that event, finishing second overall with a toss of 151 feet, 8 inches.
Delaney Straus competed in the seven event heptathlon and placed second overall with 4,320 points. Straus won the final event of the heptathlon, the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:19.90. Straus also won the javelin throw portion of the multi event with a throw of 113 feet, 5 inches.
The Wildcats also recorded top two finishes in a couple of distance events. In the 10,000-meter run, Faith Younce placed second with a time of 43:53.79, while Emma Berry was fourth with a time of 45:46.32.
In the 5000-meter race walk, Berry placed second with a time of 38:50.52, and Klaudia Blaszczyk placed third with a time of 39:32.75.
C-SC is scheduled to compete at the Cornell Invitational next Saturday, April 5, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The meet is slated to start at 10 a.m.
