Women's Track Competes at Vikings Classic, Drake Relays

A Culver-Stockton women's track and field split squad team competed in the the Vikings Classic at Grand View University and the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday afternoon.

At the Vikings Classic, Emma Smith and Faith Younce each recorded first place finishes in their respective events. 

Smith captured the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.71 seconds while Younce claimed the 5000-meter run in a time of 20:52.33. Emma Berry finished second to Younce in the 5000 with a time of 21:16.92.

Zoi Smith won one event and placed seventh in another event among the field events. Smith won the pole vault with a mark of 8 feet, 11 3/4 inches, and finished seventh in the javelin throw with a toss of 87 feet, 10 inches.

Emma Staats finished ahead of Smith in the javelin, throwing the spear 89 feet, 10 inches, to place sixth overall. 

In the hammer throw, Donyall Sharp finished fourth with a toss of 138 feet, 9 inches.

A small group of Wildcats competed in three relay races at the Drake Relays Friday. C-SC finished 12th in the 4x1600 relay with a time of 23:09.46 and 24th in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:13.46. C-SC was disqualified in the 4x200 relay.

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, May 2-3 at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
