Culver-Stockton's Straus Qualifies for Women's Decathlon World Championships
Culver-Stockton College women's track & field junior Delaney Straus has qualified and will represent the United States at the second annual Women's Decathlon World Championships August 16-17, 2025, in Geneva, Ohio.
The Women's Decathlon World Championships is an international decathlon combined track and field events championship for women. It is the first women's world championships in the discipline. The inaugural edition was staged at the Olympic training center in Geneva, Ohio, in July 2024.
Straus, a Philadelphia, Mo., native, is a two-time NAIA All-American in the heptathlon, finishing seventh in both 2024 and 2025. Additionally, Straus is the two-time defending Heart of America Athletic Conference champion, and holds the school record in the event, which was compiled at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Championships. Straus has also participated in the prestigious Drake Relays for the last two years, placing eighth overall in 2024 and 13th in 2025.
In addition to the heptathlon, Straus holds five other outdoor event records, including track events such as the 100-meter hurdles, the 400-meter hurdles, the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run, as well as the long jump in the field events. She is currently second all-time at Culver-Stockton in the triple jump and the javelin throw.
