Women's Track Competes at the CMU Open

The Culver-Stockton College women's track and field team competed at the Central Methodist Open Saturday in Fayette, Mo.

No team scores were recorded during the meet but the Wildcats did have competitors finish in the top 10 in several events.

Leading the way was a pair of third place finishes in the discus and high jump to start things off. Faith Hopgood placed third in the discus with a throw of 114 feet, five inches, while Abagail Mooney placed third in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 11 ¾ inches.

Joining Hopgood in the top 10 in the discus was Mackenzie Bryan, who placed eighth with a toss of 92 feet, 11 inches, and Mya Buehrle placed ninth overall with a throw of 91 feet, 10 inches.

The same three women recorded top 10 finishes in the hammer throw with Hopgood placing fifth with a throw of 137 feet, four inches. Buehrle placed seventh with a mark of 119 feet, 11 inches, while Bryan placed ninth with throw of 107 feet, nine inches.

Mooney also registered a top 10 finish in the pole vault with a height of eight feet, 3 ½ inches, good for ninth overall.

On the track, Emma Berry was the only member of the team to record a top 10 finish, placing 10th in the 3000-meter run in a time of 12:37.17.

The Wildcats are back in action this Saturday, March 28, at the Central College Invitational. The first events are set to begin at 11 a.m. in Pella, Iowa.
