Kyla Ellis Named Heart Defender of the Week

Culver-Stockton College libero Kyla Ellis has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week presented by Molten for her play during the Wildcats' perfect 5-0 week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Ellis, a senior from O'Fallon, Ill. (O'Fallon HS), registered 119 total digs in the five Wildcat victories last week. She averaged 6.86 digs per set and recorded 20 or more digs in three of the five matches played, including a season-high 33 in a four-set victory over Cottey (Mo.). In addition, Ellis had a serve reception percentage of 93.2, with nine errors on 132 attempts. She also recorded 23 set assists from her libero position.

For the season, Ellis has compiled 230 total digs in 46 sets, averaging 5.00 digs per set. She also has a service reception percentage of 94 percent, registered 46 set assists, and recorded eight service aces.

The Wildcats (7-4) are scheduled to host Mount Mercy University Tuesday night, Sept. 17, at Charles Field House. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
