Straus Breaks 5K School Record at the Indian Hills Invitational; Team Finishes Seventh Overall

Delaney Straus now holds all three school records at the distances documented by the Culver-Stockton College women's cross country team after setting the five-kilometer mark Friday afternoon at the Indian Hills Invitational in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Straus, who set school marks for the four-kilometer in August and the six-kilometer last week, broke the five-kilometer mark Friday with a time of 19:16.2. The time was good for sixth overall among the 66 runners competing in the race. Abri Perchetti set the previous mark of 19:36.0 in 2016.

Straus' mark helped the Wildcats finish seventh as a team in the 10-team event with an overall team time of 1:54:02. Iowa Central won the meet with a time of 1:37:23.

Faith Younce was second to Straus in the Wildcat rotation, finishing 24th overall in a time of 21:44.3. Emma Berry recorded a time of 22:12.3 to finish 31st overall, while Morgan Keith was 54th with a time of 24:19.9.

Zoi Smith ended in the 55th spot with a time of 25:34.5, and Caroline Lindsey finished 56th with a time of 26:15.6. Klaudia Blaszczyk ended up 62nd overall with a time of 29:42.6.

The Wildcats have one regular season meet remaining, next Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Mikayla Sherril Classic at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Mo. The women are slated to run at 9:45 a.m.
