Wildcats Drop Heart Opener at Peru State

An 11-1 second half run by Peru State was the difference as the Bobcats held off the Culver-Stockton men's basketball team 83-75 in a Heart of America Athletic Conference game at the Al Wheeler Activity Center Saturday afternoon in Peru, Neb.

In a game that was tied 36-36 the midway point, the Wildcats found themselves trailing 57-56 with 9:27 to play after a basket by Connor Davis.

However, the Bobcats held C-SC scoreless for the next three minutes, eight seconds to take a 67-56 lead before Ryan Stevenson stopped the bleeding for the Wildcats with a layup with 6:08 remaining.

Peru State extended the lead to 69-58 before Davis notched a basket to cut the led to 69-60. That would be the last time the deficit was less than double digits until the the final horn when Stevenson made another layup to account for the final score.

The Wildcats shot 51 percent from the field and made 13 three-pointers in the game but only shot five free throws in the game and was outscored 14-3 from the charity stripe.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by Roee Dinnar with 22 points, making 9-f his 13 field goal attempts, including 4-for-5 from the 3-point stripe. Davis added 19 points while Stevenson finish with 18 markers. 

C-SC (0-5, 0-1 Heart) is scheduled to host Graceland University this Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Charles Field House. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
