Fast Start to Second Half Kick Starts Mo. Valley to Victory over Wildcats
The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team shot 39.6 percent from the field in falling to Missouri Valley College 79-65 Saturday afternoon at Charles Field House.
The Wildcats trailed 40-36 at the intermission after shooting 42 percent in the opening 20 minutes. However, the Vikings came out in the first five minutes of the second half and tallied 14 of the first 19 points to build a 13-point advantage at 54-41.
C-SC struggled to score in the second 20 minutes, connecting on just 36 percent of its attempts, while Missouri Valley shot 50 percent from the field in the final half.
Quinten Blackburn was the only Wildcat to reach double figures, finishing with 13 points. Blackburn was 4-for-6 from the field and 5-for-7 from the free throw line.
Makieth Deng and Damont Hanton netted nine points each, while Travis Green III came off the bench to equal Damar Jenkins with eight markers. Jenkins added four assists while Hanton and Jenkins each led the way with five rebounds.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play the middle game of a season-ending three-game homestand this Wednesday, Feb. 18, against William Penn University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Charles Field House.
