Three Players Net Two Goals Each as Wildcats Rout Waldorf in Season Opener
Three different players scored two goals each to lead the Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team to a season-opening 8-0 victory over Waldorf (Iowa) University Friday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
The Wildcats, who are 4-0-1 in their last five season openers, netted five goals on just nine shots in taking a 5-0 lead at the intermission. The hosts finished the night with 18 total shots while limiting the Warriors to two shots.
Irgen Hasanaj, a freshman from Albania, led the scoring parade for the Wildcats, notching two goals and two assists for six total points. Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate and Xavier Pointer also scored twice for the Wildcats. The eight goals were the most by the Wildcats since netting seven goals against Clarke (Iowa) in 2017.
Nils Reifenberger and Scott Jarvis each scored one goal each, while Nick Tjahjadi matched Hasanaj with two assists in the game. Pedro Moutinho, Alex Hubbell, Dillan Cowan and Jahrius Wolffe all added one assist apiece.
Ricardo Fischbach and Christiano Montiero combined for the shutout. Fischbach started and didn't face a shot in the first 45 minutes. Monteiro played the second half and was forced to make to saves to preserve the shutout.
C-SC (1-0) is scheduled to play at Hannibal-LaGrange University this Tuesday, August 26, in Hannibal, Mo. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
