Men's Soccer Outscored 5-1 in Second Half of Home Loss to William Woods
William Woods University outscored the Culver-Stockton men's soccer team 5-1 in the second half to claim a 6-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory Friday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.
The Owls struck first with a goal in the 32nd minute but the Wildcats answered when Daniel Becker slipped one past the WWU goalkeeper in the 39th minute to tie the game. Nich Tjahjadi assisted on the Becker goal and the two teams went to the half break tied 1-1.
William Woods netted two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to take a 3-1 lead. However, the Wildcats climbed to within a goal when Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute of the game and the 12th minute of the second half.
The Owls, who outshot the hosts 23-7 in the game, scored again three minutes later to regain their two goal advantage, and then added two more goals later in the half to account for the final score.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play their season finale this Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
