Men's Volleyball Falls Short in Five-Set Loss to Ottawa
The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team began a two-day, two match trip to Kansas with a five set loss to Ottawa University Friday night at the Mabee Center in Ottawa, Kan.
The Wildcats started strong with a victory in the first set but then lost the next two sets to fall behind two games to one. C-SC sent the match to a deciding set with a victory in the fourth set before Ottawa prevailed 23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 19-25, 15-11.
Cooper Varner and Rio Victor led the Wildcats offensively with a combined 27 kills between them. Varner totaled 14 terminations while Victor had 13 kills. Henry Reeves garnered seven kills and Matt Reese tallied 34 set assists.
Defensively, the Wildcats had a season high 20 team blocks with Zach Kowalewicz and Riko Davis garnering eight blocks each. Bill Frederick Clarke claimed seven blocks in the match.
The Wildcats are scheduled to complete the road trip on Saturday, Feb. 28, with a match at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
