Softball Completes Weekend With Two More Victories

The Culver-Stockton softball team completed a perfect weekend at the Rosemont Classic with two more victories Saturday afternoon at the Rosemont Dome in Rosemont, Ill.

The Wildcats finished undefeated in four games to improve to 6-4 overall on the young season. On Saturday, C-SC defeated Mount Mary (Wis.) 11-1 in five innings before concluding the weekend with a 9-3 victory over Lawerence Tech (Mich.).

In the victory over Mount Mary, Cierra Bush was 3-for-3 with a pair of triples and three runs batted in. Sophie Meyer was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while Samantha Vetter was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Cabria Childers earned the victory in the circle after allowing one run (unearned) on three hits in five innings of work. Childers walked two and struck out seven.

In the weekend finale against Lawrence Tech, Vetter finished off a solid weekend with two more hits, both triples, and four runs batted in to lead C-SC. Bush garnered a hit and two runs batted in, while Hunter Huddle also had a hit and two runs batted in. Aleki Ulu and Kataleena Hunt were both 2-for-2 as the Wildcats registered 11 total hits.

Sophie Stuart gave up 11 hits in the game but only allowed three runs to earn the victory. Stuart walked three and struck out two to even her record at 1-1.

The Wildcats (6-4) will take two week off before heading to the Branson Showtime Classic in Branson, Mo. C-SC is scheduled to begin play on Saturday, Feb. 28, against Science and Arts (Okla.) at 1 p.m.
